Pricing Policy

The ZAR pricing of our gemstones is tied to the ZAR/US Dollar exchange rate and may be updated at any time without prior notice. We usually absorb small fluctuations in the conversion rate, but major world events and changes in the value of the Rand will inevitably translate to changes in our pricing as needed.

We take great care to ensure that all our listings are displaying the correct pricing, however, due to the sheer volume of listings and the possibility human error, occasionally a listing will crop up with incorrect pricing. If this happens, we reserve the right to cancel any transaction related to the erroneous listing and refund any money already paid. We will send you an email informing you that this has happened, and you will have the option of placing your order again under the correct pricing.

Returns Policy Overview

Goods returned in the original packaging and in the original condition qualify for a full refund within 7 days of delivery. Thereafter a handling fee of 5% will be levied on the return. Goods returned more than 30 days after delivery will be subject to a handling fee of 20%. No returns will be accepted on goods returned more than 90 days after delivery.

To be eligible for a return, your item must be unused and in the same condition that you received it. It must also be in the original packaging.

To complete your return, we require a receipt or proof of purchase. You must make contact with us to inform us that you intend to return your purchase within 24 hours of taking receipt of the delivery. To do so, please send an email to returns@sdtfinegems.co.za and let us know why you whish to return your purchase. Please include your order number when doing so. We will then send you the delivery address for your return.

The following items can’t be returned or exchanged

Because of the nature of these items, unless they arrive damaged or defective, we can’t accept returns for:

  • Custom or personalised orders
  • Rings of which the original finger sizes have been altered
  • Unfortunately we cannot offer returns on rings due to incorrect finger sizing. Please make sure that the finger size you provide is correct. We recommend having your finger measured at your local jewellery store. The staff are usually well trained to determine the correct size, especially since wider rings tend to fit more tightly than narrower rings. They should also be able to provide an accurate conversion from other measuring systems to the British scale, for those ordering from outside of South Africa. The best accuracy can be obtained by measuring the inside of the chosen test ring with a vernier caliper and providing us with the measurement in millimeters on check out. Each size is only 1/4 of a millimeter larger than the previous one, so accuracy is essential.

Refunds

Once your return is received and inspected, we will send you an email to notify you that we have received your returned item. We will also notify you of the approval or rejection of your refund.

If  the returns has been approved, then your refund will be processed, and a credit will automatically be applied to your credit card or original method of payment, within 2 working days.

Late or missing refunds

If you haven’t received a refund after 2-3 working days, first check your bank account again.

Then contact your credit card company, it may take some time before your refund is officially posted.

Next contact your bank. There is often some processing time before a refund is posted.

Shipping returns

You will be responsible for paying for your own shipping costs for returning your item. Shipping costs are non-refundable. If you receive a refund, the cost of return shipping will be deducted from your refund.

Depending on where you live, the time it may take for your exchanged product to reach you may vary.

If you are returning more expensive items, you may consider using a trackable shipping service or purchasing shipping insurance. We don’t guarantee that we will receive your returned item.
